Girl PowHER!

One of my most recent sponsors is GirlPowHER, a non-profit organization here in Vail associated with Youth Power 365 and the Vail Valley Foundation. I was thrilled when they reached out to me inquiring about a partnership because their mission is something that is very close to my heart. They "empower young girls physically, emotionally and mentally to promote school and community engagement ensuring each girl reaches her full potential."

I've always had the best female teammates, both in soccer and skiing. We are role models for each other, lifting each other up and pushing each other to be the best versions of ourselves. And these relationships have played major roles in my success both as an athlete and person. They've helped me recognize the importance of teamwork and camaraderie while building my character. It's a special thing, especially in an individual sport like mogul skiing, to be able to empower each other in every aspect. Every girl has something great to offer the world, sometimes it just takes another girl to help her realize that. It's for these reasons that being an ambassador for Girl PowHER is something I've very passionate about.

It's also important to me that my sponsors reflect what I care about. Especially in the ski industry, it's easy to crave material sponsors which tend to have more compensation. I have some of these partnerships myself, and I'm very grateful for their encouragement and support, however, they serve a different purpose in my career compared to organizations like GirlPowHER. Before I realized it, my hard work and results in skiing created a platform in which I have a voice that is heard. I initially wasn't sure how I wanted to use that platform, but after more experience and growth, I saw very clearly what matters to me. And what matters to me ought to be shared on this platform that I have.

Although I haven't had the opportunity to work closely with the girls of Girl PowHER yet, I know that they will have just as much to offer me as I do them. I'm very excited to begin this journey and share my experiences with you all. Thank you to the Vail Valley Foundation, Youth Power 365 and of course GirlPowHER for giving me this opportunity. The work they do for kids around the valley is truly inspirational.
