I am officially done with high school! It feels so good to finally say this after having "senioritis" since my freshman year. Although I didn't attend a lot, I learned a lot and wanted to express my deepest gratitude to the Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy for helping me earn this degree. I wouldn't have done it without this institution, and I am honored to be an alumnus. That being said, I was able to finish 2nd in my class of 31, with a 4.22 GPA. While traveling the world and competing in the World Cup tour, this was no easy feat, and I'm glad to have it all behind me.
A lot of people have asked me what my academic plans for the future are....well, here it is. I deferred from the University of Denver for one year. I wanted to take a gap year to focus solely on skiing and also to figure out how my schedule will work once I am a student at DU. The reason I chose this school is because of their quarter system, which will allow me to take winters off and attend sessions in the summer. They also offer ample online classes, which as you know, definitely helps while I'm on the road. I'm really excited to start school in the fall of 2019, but until then, ski ski ski!
My family and I just got back from a vacation in Great Britain, and it was so great to spend quality time with all four of them exploring territory that skiing wouldn't expose me to otherwise. We started in London, and drove up through the countryside ending in Edinburgh, Scotland. The gorgeous scenery of Northern England took my breath away, and I hope to go back in the future!
And to add more to this blog, today is my 18th birthday! It feels good to officially call myself an adult and be able to sign my own waivers. Each year on my birthday I am overwhelmed with gratitude for all the amazing people I've met and spectacular experiences I've had at such a young age. It feels like I should be a lot older than I am, but I can't wait to keep the fun going during year 19!
Now it's off to Whistler, Canada for my first coaching gig with Momentum Camps in Whistler, Canada. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time...wish me luck! ;)
xoxo,
Tess
